5 on Friday, v.5

5 Things...

...I did last weekend

1. Got my craft show on with Gardening Momma, picking up a few necessities (like push-pop fudge) while out.

2. Had some super yummy noodles at famed restaurant, Anqui.

3. Finally finished my little filing project that had sat spread out on our entire living room floor for three straight days.  I think HH is glad I'm done with that.

4. Was hosted for a lovely dinner at Baker Girl and The Esquire's brand new home!

5. Suffered through another entire episode of Homeland without Brody.

...in my purse

1. A to-do list from about three weeks ago, that got about a quarter of the way actually done.

2. My wallet, which I am still loving.  One of the best gifts I've ever gotten!

{Hobo}

3. My keys, of which I have an abundance.  A key for our home and our mail box.  A key to my parents' house.  A key to my clinic.  Two keys for my parents' house in Arizona.  Oh, and my car key.

4. A lipstick, and an empty tube of mascara.  Necessary.

5. About 47 bobby pins.  But don't you know it, I can still never find one when I need one!

...I watch on TV

1. As mentioned earlier, Homeland.

3. Real Housewives of... just about every city.  Beverly Hills gets started next month, woo hoo!

5. How I Met Your Mother

Happy Friday!

It's (Almost) Halloween Month!

In September...

We started off the month celebrating an entire year of home ownership, reminiscing about moving into our condo last Labor Day weekend, and celebrating the day off work with some sloppy joes and some Gardening Mom, Hat Dad and Sister Singer company!

Handsome Husband and I had fun catching up with some old friends (we're talking 7th grade connections here, people!) at a BBQ.

I had not one, but two fabulous lunches with Best Friend Cute Apartment over the weekends of September!

I decided to get involved in my community, and joined the Board of Directors for my neighborhoods Homeowner's Association!  (I'm the youngest person there by about 10 years...)

We spent a weekend getting a lot of puppy love from Cute Apartment's doggies while we pet sat for them.  Let's just say, they're cute, but I like my house puppy free for now!

HH's alma mater started off their soccer season, and we were happy to head up to Dominguez Hills to watch them play!  (We would have been even happier to watch them win, but a tie ain't nothing!)

I had another doctor's appointment with an ultrasound, so we got to get another little peak at our baby girl!  The farther along in the pregnancy I get, the more detailed and awesome the ultrasounds and photos are!  It is so fun to see the shape of her profile, with her little nose and chin and everything showing so clearly!

I hosted Ms. Art Teacher for a little dinner and a movie, and was sufficiently freaked out by the movie, Side Effects.

HH and I spent the evening at a Breastfeeding Class, and learned a few things!

Baby Girl got another musical treat when we attended the Panic! at the Disco and Fall Out Boy concert as a family.  I think the music soothed her, cause she wasn't moving nearly as much as I thought she would be.  Maybe she won't be a little dancer after all!

Grandma Beach Bum and Grandpa Backgammon came over to our house for dinner to celebrate a belated birthday for Grandma BB!  We have some yummy chuck roast, veggies, and salad and topped it off with some brownies!

Just a few days later, we celebrated another family birthday - Aunt Fancy Chef!  This time with tacos and a pretty fabulous chocolate crossaint bread pudding, made with love by Grandma BB!

We had a fun mid-week dinner with Twin Beauty School and The Bouncer at our local deep-dish pizza place.

We got all fancied up for a black-tie event at HH's old company to celebrate a big milestone for the group.  It was fun to get all dressed up, and especially fun to see my handsome man in a tux!  This was one event where I was wishing I could indulge in a few cocktails though!

And the month ended with a big night of TV - the series finale of Breaking Bad (I can't believe it's over!) and the season premier of Homeland!  Luckily we had Cute Apartment and Number Cruncher over to provide us with some commerical commentary throughout the intense shows!

In October? I have to do that yucky glucose test for pregnancy, HH and I are planning to hit up some more soccer games, I've got a fun shopping event, my first baby shower!!!, and of course - Halloween!

Things Thursday: Things I've Been Doing Instead of Blogging

1. Couch surfing.  Maybe a little too much time on the couch.

2. Tons and tons of family time!  Last Sunday, we managed to have each meal with a different group of Handsome Husband's family!

3. Um, Big Brother started.  Hello?

4. Using my camera.  I got to take some pretty pictures of MIL Red and her fiance, Mr. Bear, down at their oceanfront wedding location last weekend.

5. Getting more and more excited for our upcoming Beers & BBQ 4th of July Party!  Friends, booze, food, sun and 'MERICA loving...my type of day.

6. Planning (and by planning, I mean, listening to Gardening Mom's plan and loving every idea) a long weekend getaway with Gardening Mom and Sisters Singer and Swimmer.  August can't come soon enough!

7. Enjoying basking in the sun on my walks to and from my work parking lot and on the weekends, but not loving the too hot evenings that have already started.

8. Having mini family reunions at Downtown Disney.  Lots of family was in town, and it was so nice to see everyone!

9. Really missing blogging, but really lacking the motivation to write.

10. Reading lots of blogs!  I might be lagging, but I'm reading YOU!

Spring & Summer TV

Once upon a time, the good TV was only on in the Fall and in the Spring and Summer we were destined to find entertainment from reruns and movies on the 200s (what I used to call the movie channels as a kid, now they are like 1200s).

That is so not the case anymore!  There is so much fabulous Spring & Summer TV out there, it's nearly as exciting for you couch surfers like myself as Fall is!

Take a looksie at my favorites coming (or just recently premiered) to a TV near you!

The Voice
Premiered March 25th

Real Housewives of Orange County
Premiered April 1st

Mad Men
Premiered April 7th

Nurse Jackie
Premiers April 14th

Big Brother
Premiers June 26th

Dexter
Premiers June 30th

Breaking Bad
Premiers July 14th

I mean, seriously?  It would be a good summer even if I never hit the road for a vacay or saw the ocean solely based on the quality television about to enter my living room.

And hey, no judgement on Real Housewives - OC girls are the first ladies of Bravo!

What shows do you watch during the Spring and Summer?

Book Club Friday: Drinking and Tweeting

It's been way too long since I've linked up with Heather and Katie for Book Club Friday.  Partially because I've been a reading slacker and partially because the books I have read?  Not worth blogging about, sad to say.

But the book I read over our East Coast Vacation?  Totally worth a blog post!

I absolutely adored this book!  It is certainly not going to win any Pulitzers for it's literary genius, but I powered through it because I just enjoyed just about every second of it!

First of all, I am a huge fan of Brandi on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, so if you're not - this probably isn't your book.  But personally I think she is hysterical, raw and real, and all around fabulous.  Any girl who says shut the eff up casually at a dinner party is my kinda chick.

The book is honest, and talks about stuff that a lot of celebrities just don't talk about, let alone write a whole book about it!

If you like the Beverly Hills Housewives, especially Brandi, do yourself a favor and read this book!

#VSFashionShow

A few weeks ago, I hosted a little girls night in to watch the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, one of my most anticipated television events of the year!  Here's the thing: I love this show.  And while I joke about it being depressing, I really think women should support women, and other women looking good is not something to take as some kind of personal insult - it should be motivation, if anything at all.

So, some of my favorite ladies brought some goodnies to my pink, glittered, rhinestone covered condo, and got a little buzzed on a Wednesday night watching hot models walk down the runway

PINK panty party favors, and some glamourous wedding leftovers for decor

Our spread - my go-to quick appetizer: cream cheese, salsa and crackers; eggnog muffins from Ms. Art Teacher; chocolate chip meringues; homemade pumpkin muffins from Ms. Does it All; homemade Pinterest pizza rolls from Cute Apartment; fruit salad and some super yum crackers and dip from Twin Beauty School

A really oddly composed photo of some gorg flowers in a vase that was a housewarming gift from Ms. Art Teacher, a glittered champagne bottle (made my none other than yours truly), and some more pretty wedding leftovers

The champagne bottles were quite the hit - they were all over Instagram!

From L-R: Twin Unicorn, Ms. Does it All, High School Teacher, Moi, Cute Apartment, Ms. Art Teacher, and Twin Unicorn

Showing off our party favors - ow owww!

PS. This post shows off little glimpses of our new home.  I have a Holiday Tour coming up, and in the new year, expect to see lots of befores and afters and a full tour of our humble abode!

Things Thursday: Things I'm So Thankful For

1. This amazing wonderful man that I get to spend every single day with for the rest of my life:

2. My amazingly generous and supportive parents, whom I love and adore and can't imagine having to live without.

3. My sweet sisters who I miss more and more each day!

4. These little wonders that popped up on the shelves again in the past few weeks:

5. All of my extended family that I don't get to see nearly enough and miss every single day.

6. My job, that can be very stressful, but that I truly love and enjoy, which not everybody can say.

7. My Handsome Husband's scholarship for his law school education, which makes law school a much more enjoyable experience for my bank account.

8. All of my in-laws, who have always welcomed me into the family from day one and continue to do so as the years go on.

9. The Real Housewives franchise, without which, I would feel better about my finances and worse about my friendships.

10. My amazing friends, who always support me, never judge me (at least not to my face), praise me for my strengths and forgive me my weaknesses.

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. I like rhinestones on just about everything, my Husband, my home and The Voice.

2. A life goal of mine is to be someone who everyone misses when they aren't there, and to one day have my children (should I be so blessed) say I make the "best ever" something - you know, "Oh your Mom makes good chicken?  My Mom makes the best ever salsa chicken."

3. The last thing you would ever expect me to like (even though I secretly do) is shooting guns.  Granted, I'd like it just a leetle bit better if the gun was rhinestoned, but still.
4. Some wise words that I love are "I don't care about money, I just want to be wonderful" - Marilyn Monroe

5. Most mornings you will find me quite grumpy, until I've had plenty of good morning hugs and kisses from my best friend in the entire world, my Handsome Husband.

6. Right now I am super into politics...SYKE.  Right now I am super into everyone shutting the hell up about politics.  There was a good 24 hours of appropriate bitching, moaning and gloating time and that time, my friends, is ova.

7. Right now I am super over Christina Aguilera's tatas.  Like, can I just watch one episode of The Voice without feeling like I'm at the Spearmint Rhino??

Fill in the Blank Friday

It's been a while since I've linked up for Fill in the Blank Friday, but I'm fresh out of inspiration, so here goes!

1. My favorite flower is  stargazer lilies.  And lucky my Handsome Husband knows that...ps HH, it's been a while since I had some pretty pink lilies to gaze at.

2. You should never talk about money, unless someone wants your advice/knowledge.  People who can't have a conversation without reminding everyone how much money they have or make drive me bananas.
3. My favorite discovery as of late is some of the super yum recipes I have tried out recently.  Taco shells, zucchini boats (c/o Katie!), SO good!

4. This fall you will probably find me wearing leggings (just bought a pair from Old Navy, per Megan's glowing review!), loose tops and sweaters, and boots.  Or you know, scrubs five days a week.

5. I wish I were at my house, painting the rest of my half-painted kitchen.  I got awfully inspired a few nights ago, and inspiration has yet to hit again...at least not when I'm home.

6. My favorite TV show currently is a list way too long to list right here, so instead I'll share my top three new-ish shows: 1. The Mindy Project, 2. Partners, and 3. Up All Night (this is the second season, but I just recently watched the entire first season On Demand so it feels new to me!).

7. This weekend I want to go to San Diego to see our amazing friends that I miss everyday, watch HH kick some alumni soccer ass, beer garden my booty off, go out to a bar (hello, it's been a while from this girl), and then head home for a Sunday of seeing my Small Town Grandma who I never get to see and flower/plant shopping for my front patio with Gardening Mama.  Couldn't plan a better weekend if I tried!

5 Reality Stars I Want to Hang Out With

1. Jordan Lloyd from Big Brother, Seasons 11 and 13

I think she is about the sweetest thing to ever have existed.
Plus, I'd love to share my Dating Tips with her so she can seal the deal with Big Jeff!

2. Ramona Singer from The Real Housewives of New York

I tend to think this would be a short-lived friendship, due to Ramona's crazy tendencies.
But, I think while it lasted it would be filled with Pino Grigio, lots of talk about how much we love our hot husbands, and tons of gossip.

3. Aubree from Teen Mom 2

I mean, are you kidding me?
She gives me baby fever every time her face flashes across the screen.

4. Heather Marter & Dustin Zito from The Real World: Las Vegas 2

I just want to double date with these two.
I think they are the cutest couple, and they seem like they know how to have a good time!

and last but not least,

5. Khloe Kardashian from Keeping up with the Kardashians

Khloe, khloe, khloe.
My all-time fave Kardashian.
I think she is so real, raw and absolutely hysterical!
Plus, I don't think my husband would mind meeting Lamar.

Which reality stars would you want to hang with?
