The Nail Files

I've been a blogging loser for so long that I must have not noticed that Jennie is now the new host of The Nail Files! I'm excited to check out her blog, and of course, check out some cute manis!!  I'm sharing my homemade manicure this week, because it's been a long time since these nails have had some color slapped on them!

I love this Sinful Colors shade, I think it screams fall without being too dark.  And the gold glitter?  Came in a multi-pack from Michaels of all places last Christmas!  It is gunky, and not great quality, but I often use it because I love the teeny tiny bits of glitter it gives.

The Nail Files

So happy to be linking up with Tara and Vicki again after a little nail break!  I am loving the colors I'm rocking this week, and couldn't wait to share with y'all!

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in 320: Love Rocks
Wet 'n' Wild Crystalic in 477A: Psycho

I love the color of this pink Sally Hansen shade, but goodness it was hard to paint my nails with!  Very goopy and sticky, however to be fair, I am pretty sure both of these polishes are ancient, so it could have to do with beind old and not the formula in general.  The Wet n Wild sparkles are amazeballs, and I can't believe I didn't find this bottle earlier!  I anticipate this bottle coming out a lot this summer!

Beach Cruiser

Okay, I say this every time, but this time it really has been way too long since I've linked up with my girl, Tara, for The Nail Files.

I had all these great ideas for spring-y pastel nails, and easter eggs nails, and cutey polka dot nails for Easter and then?  I spent all my time working on my Easter Treats instead, so Easter was spent with naked nails.

To make up for it, I picked one of the brightest colors in my arsenal for some spring cheer.

ORLY Beach Cruiser

This was my first time using ORLY polish, and there were pros and cons:

Pros: Love the handle and the polish dried quite quickly, and can't forget the adorable hot pink color.

Cons: It was both streaky and kind of gummy on the second coat, which was sort of obnoxious for a $7 bottle of nail polish.

If you love this hot pink color, you've got to check out the hot pink and chevron camera strap I'm giving away.  Check it out HERE!

The One Where I Get My Own Razor

I have been sharing a razor with my husband for as long as I can remember.  Is that gross?  Never weirded me out, but who knows

Anyways, I have always thought that mens' razors must give a closer, smoother shave and that I would never switch to a razor made specifically for women again.  It worked for me, it was less clutter in the shower, and it didn't gross HH out.

That is, until BzzAgent offered up a free Shick Hydro Silk razor.  I don't turn down free stuff, okay - it's not in my DNA.  So I accepted and eagerly awaited my new lady razor.  I'll be honest, I was expecting it to suck, and figured I'd use it once and then toss it.

Well I was wrong, this lady razor was not only super cute (something only a lady would care about), but the handle was so much easier for me to hold on to.  I can't tell you how many times I've almost cut a toe open by dropping HH's razor THISclose to my foot in the shower.  The chunky rubbery blue handle was easy to grip, and I didn't drop it once.

Let's talk about the important stuff: the shaving.  I.  Was.  Shocked.  Currently (about 12 hours post shave) I have the smoothest legs (and other areas, ifyouknowwhatImean) that I've had in years.  I think the moisturizing serum built in to the razor really makes a difference - I didn't even feel like I had to use lotion after the shower!

I am so happy to have gotten this razor from BzzAgent, I may never go back to HH's razor again!

I was given a Shick Hydro Silk razor through BzzAgent for review.  All words and opinions are my own.

The Nail Files

It has been way too long since I've linked up with the fabulous Vicki and Tara for The Nail Files.  Happy to be back with these two nail-inistas!

This week I finally tried a color I've had in my arsenal forever.  It was a gift from Gardening Mom and I was so excited to get designer nail polish, I don't know how I haven't tried it out before this week!  And because I am so not a name brand snob, I wanted this to be the same as the $2 drug store polishes...but y'all?  It's not.  Chanel makes an amaze polish - it goes on so smooth, dries incredibly fast, and has held up great so far, of course with a little help from Seche Vite.

The Nail Files

Best Friend Cute Apartment and I went to mani/pedis last Friday, and my God what a good idea it was.  Neither of us could remember the last time we had one, and I seriously think it may have been since my wedding in February of 2011 since I had a good ole fashion mani/pedi.

We tried a new place near where I work and we both live, and I am so glad we did!  It was fantastic!  Seriously, one of the best mani/pedis I've ever had!  The massage was awesome, and it included lemon rubs on your nails (not entirely sure what this does, but so fancy), and hot stones!  Cannot wait to go back there! Being totally honest, we did have appointments and poor Cute Apartment had to wait almost 20 minutes after I got started, but barring that it was a wonderful experience!

This is the color I'm still rocking from my manicure:

I wish I could tell you I was smart enough to jot down the name of the polish, but alas, I'm simply not that smart.  I love the color though, I think it's fun and bright.  But I am ready for some deep fall shades to put on these digits!

Sparkles

Inspired by some gorgeous nude sparkles Twin Beauty School was rocking on her nails when I saw her last weekend, I went for some subtle but fun sparkles this week on my nails:

As you beauty mavens probably already know, love & beauty is Forever 21's beauty brand.  Their products seem to be very hit or miss (their eyeshadow for example...a no go), but I have had great success with their polish!  Their names are nothing to write home about though, as you can see this fabulous cover is named simply, "Magenta".

Best part about love & beauty polish?
The price.

$2.80 for a sparkly glitter?!

The Nail Files

Still craving some neons, I recently picked up this polish from Nordstrom Rack.
I have never seen this brand anywhere but The Rack, but I love this hot pink polish!
Sister Swimmer has this brand in a light blue, and said it was a little thin - but I had no problemos with the hot pink on my nails!

Excuse my swollen fingers, we're currently going through a gnarly little heat wave here in the So Cal!  It has literally felt like we brought Florida weather back with us from our Disneyworld trip!

The Nail Files

Remember a few weeks ago, when I was lookin' for a good summer neon color?

Well a girl can always depend on Twin Beauty School, because just a day later girlfriend brought me not one, but three China Glaze neons to try out!

The first one I rocked?

This color was fun, and fabulous and super easy to apply.
I got quite a few compliments on my "highlighter nails" from patients and parents alike over the week.

Stay tuned for more summer neons, c/o the fantastic Twin Beauty School!

The Nail Files

It's Friday
And that means another chance to link up and show off the color on my nails with Tara and Vicki!

Sinful Colors
Mint Apple

A color I picked up a few nights before we headed out to Florida last month - was hoping it would be a little brighter.  I'm really itching for a neon color - might need to pick one up soon.
Any suggestions?

Something I was crazy impressed with about this polish, though?  It really lasted forever - barely any chips after a week!

Did you rock patriotic nails this week?

The Nail Files

The Nail Files
Linking up for one of my favorite weekly link-ups with Tara and Vicki!

I'm showing off my Palm Springs nails from Memorial Day weekend today!
I'd been wanting to try white for a while, but hadn't got a chance to buy some, so when Twin Beauty School showed up with some in her arsenal, I was all over it.

I loved the white, but 2 complaints:
1. It shows ALL of your mistakes - shaky hand nail-painters, beware!
and
2. It chipped in less than 12 hours!  I don't usually use a good top coat though, so that would be my b.

The colors I used:

Linking up with Tara and Vicki again today for The Nail Files!

My color of the week:

I love this color - I think it is a little more fall than summery, but I still adore it!

The Nail Files

The Nail Files

I have some very fun polish to show off today for The Nail Files with Tara and Vicki!

Scented Nail Polish.

Are you kidding me?
So freakin' cool!

The color (and scent) of this polish (from Forever 21, by the way!) is Rose, and it smells just like roses.  It is a very strong smell in the liquid form, but stays really strong once you put it on your nails as well!  For the first few days after painting my nails, I could totally smell the roses anytime my hand was anywhere near my face!  It was definitely fun, and the color was gorg, too!

There is a super cute nail polish up for grabs as a part of my Stress Relief giveaway going on NOW!  Come check it out HERE!

Adventures in Pinterest {Vol. 1}

Like many of you do, I adore Pinterest.  There is a wealth of creative ideas on there, and I love to pin some recipes, crafts, and even dream home ideas.

So, after re-creating a few things from Pinterest recently, I thought - I should be sharing these with my fabulous readers!  All too often on Pinterest, things look so complicated or difficult, I am intimidated to even try, so I hope seeing my Adventures in Pinterest will encourage you to do some adventuring of your own!

And feel free to follow me on Pinterest to see all the fun things I pin!

First up in Adventures in Pinterest?

Recreating this hair style at the request of my dear Sister Singer:

And with the help of a 1-inch curling iron,
a shit-ton lot of hairspray,
and a cute lil pink bow,
we (and by we, I mean me, considering SS just kinda sat there) ended up with this:

Try not to be distracted by the gorgeousness that is my reflection in the background.

And?  I think we I nailed it.

One more photo of pretty Sister Singer for good measure:

Sharing my color of the week today with Tara and Vicki!

Also, this is one of my all time favorite polish brands.  The Complete Salon Manicure is seriously the total package - no base coat or top coat needed.  I don't have the patience to wait for the polish to dry and the top coat - so this is perfect for me!  Shoutout to Sister Swimmer for getting me this pretty color for Christmas!

Beauty Bundle 200 Follower GIVEAWAY!

That's right, ladies.
The time has come -

GIVEAWAY TIME!

Stress Case Giveaway

As promised, Tutor Girl from Heartfelt Happenings (formerly Hunnel Happenings) is teaming up with  me to bring you some pretty awesome goodies!

One lucky winner will win all of the above:

Adorable Target makeup bag
and

That's over an $85 value, all for one lucky Stress Case reader!

The makeup bag is perfect for you to stuff all your goodies in to take on the road with you, especially for those of you who do your makeup while you drive in the car like myself.  The elf Studio brand is all the rage in the blogworld right now, and the that is the bronzer I am currently using!  It looks super dark in the compact, but is great for even a paper white girl like myself!  Stila lipglosses are the bomb.com and I am having the hardest time not unwrapping them and putting them on my very own kisser.  Love the baby pink color of the ULTA polish, and softlips is like the best chapstick out there!  The MAC eyeshadow is the kicker for me though - Trax is my go to color, and one of the only shades I have had to replace multiple times because I use it so often!

Ladies, I gotta admit, I'd like to just keep all this fun stuff for myself.  A big big big thank you to Tutor Girl who was kind enough to suggest this little joint effort in celebration of 200 followers on this little ole blog!

Heartfelt Happenings

The giveaway will be open for 2 weeks, and will close at 12:01am on January 10, 2012!  (How weird is it to say 2012 already!)
