Adventures in Pinterest: Quick Change, A Baby Shower Gift Idea

I'm back at it with my Adventures in Pinterest, and today I have a darling baby shower gift idea to share with you!  After being invited to Tutor Girl's Sip and See for sweet Lucky P (I'm a poet, and I didn't know it), I was on the prowl for a great baby shower gift for a second baby.  It was my thought process that TG would have most of the essentials, and I wanted to get something different for this little bundle of joy - something unique!  I got her a personalized blanket (go pressure Tutor Girl into blogging and showing it off!), but I also put together this gift to the entire TG/Ronomon family, in hopes of helping to tame the chaos that must come with two kiddos under three in the house!

My Version:

As you can see, I went with an entirely different look and I just adore how it turned out!  TG had told me that she was going to do P's nursey in yellow with hot pink accents, and when I saw this basket (Michaels for under $13 dollars!) I had to have it!  The bags are from Amazon, and you can find them through the link below:

I apologize the card is a bit blurry and hard to read!  It says:

Quick Change
Each bag contains everything you need for one diaper change on-the-go:
A Size 1 Pampers Swaddlers Diaper
Cotonelle Travel Wipes
Disposable Changing Pad
Hand Sanitizer
Bag for Diaper Disposal

I got most of my products from Target, but you can find almost all of them on Amazon as well.

I decided to spring for some nice hand sanitizer for the bags, and took advantage of the 10/$10 deal at Bath and Body Works for the minis:

I loved putting this gift together, and will most definitely be putting another one together for future baby showers!

And I can't possibly end this post without including an adorable photo of Little Miss Lucky P from her Sip & See:

Adventures in Pinterest: Monogram Dish Towels

Oh my goodness, y'all, these turned out so cute.  You better believe a few are going to land on my oven in the very near future.

I made these sweet towels for Mother-in-Law Red and her boyfriend as they celebrated their new abode at their housewarming in late January.

My Pinspiration:

My Creation:
These were so easy, and I personally think they turned out just darling.  It was my first time using an exact knife and making my own little stencil and my first time using fabric medium!  There are some detailed instructions at the first link, and they as super helpful.  The only thing the first link doesn't note is how exactly to use the fabric medium - it should say on your bottle, but mine was 1 part medium and 2 parts of your paint.  Hopefully these will stay as adorable as they are not post washing machine.

Dunzo

Want to know something that will make you crazy jealous?

I'm done Christmas Shopping.

Yup.  It's true.  I was done by December 2nd.  (Okay if I am being super honest, I have a few things on my list to make that have yet to be accomplished, and my Handsome Husband has one more gift to pick up for someone in his family, but other than that I'm totally dunzo.)

I always end up finishing my shopping crazy early because 1. I cannot stand crowds (like I'll miss the last amazing song of a concert if I can avoid shuffling out with thousands of people) and so I avoid the mall like the damn plague from about December 5th on, and 2. I love Christmas shopping.

I seriously cannot get enough of the Christmas shopping.  I get so excited when I come up with a gift idea, I can't wait to see how everything will come together!  I totally pride myself on being a good gift giver, so this is the most exciting time of year!  Gift giving aplenty!

What's next on my Holiday To-Do List?

Heading to the local Christmas tree lot (we're not lucky enough to get to cut one down ourselves in our neck of the woods!) with my sweet Handsome Hubs and picking out our first ever live Christmas tree in our new home!

Adventures in Pinterest: A Birthday Chalkboard

This gift, y'all, this gift was a labor of love.  It was my Handsome Hub's sweet cousins' wife's good friend Tutor Girl's birthday this week, and I wanted to make her something she would love.  Granted, I got her a blouse as well, but I wanted to make something too!

And then I saw this:

And I knew she had to have it!  You see, Tutor Girl is a former teacher (or maybe Teacher is like a life-long title, and she's just taking a break?), and she runs an in-home daycare.  This little chalkboard seemed perfect for her - I thought she could use it as a menu board, for the daycare, who knows what else!

So off to Home Depot I went to buy a big ole piece of wood and have them cut it down (PS if anyone wants one of these darling guys, I've got enough wood for make about 42329 5 more).  I grabbed me some chalkboard spray paint, and the rest I had on hand.  Except the finials to detail the top.  Oh, these damn finials.  Would you believe me if I told you I went to four places looking for them.  These guys don't want to be found.  I finally found them (albeit a bit larger than I was looking for, but it worked) at Lowe's.  Home Depot doesn't carry them!  And this makes me mad at the HD.

Anyways the tutorial over at Shanty2Chic is super easy to follow, and my favorite part about the entire project?  I got to use my power tool!

Here's how mine turned out:

Totally would have blurred out her name to preserve anonymity, but you can find out her real name at her long lost blog anyways!

My handiwork with the chalk pen - these things are amazing!

The ulta hard to find finial at work.

A Day Date Gift Idea

Saturday we celebrated my Mother-in-Law's 25th birthday!
Okay, truth be told we celebrated the big 5-0, but the woman looks so damn good you'd think she was 25!

My Handsome Husband's family all got together for brunch at Grandma Beach Bum's house to celebrate the birth of the one and only Mother-in-Law Red.

I was totally stumped on what to get MIL Red for her birthday, because here's the thing.  MIL Red is always doing something, going somewhere, volunteering, heading off for the weekend - she's an active little lady!  So while I'm sure she would have adored a necklace, some perfume, or a sweater - I wanted to get her something more, something to do.

And then I saw an advertisement for THIS:
{Via}
Apparently it's called a hydrobike, and you ride it around the harbor in Newport Beach.  This screamed MIL Red to me!  She loves the beach, the water, and all things fun!  I thought this looked like such a blast, I nearly purchased myself a pass too!

But being the fantastic gift giver that I am, I couldn't just hand her over the voucher to ride around the harbor, oh no, presentation is key.

So, I present to you, my Day Date Gift Idea:
I had read that on these nifty little hydrobikes you could take a small ice chest with you, so I purchased one from Amazon and then made it my own (what would a gift from Stress Casey be without some added rhinestones?).  To add on to MIL Red's future day of fun (who I'm sure she can't wait to share with her beau!), I added some fun fruit sodas, some treats and a gift card to a restaurant walking distance from the Hydrobike location!

I hope you have fun on your Day Date that I planned for you, MIL Red!  And I hope your 50th birthday was all you hoped it would be, and more!

On My Very Merry UnBirthday

Tomorrow is my half-birthday, y'all!

I don't usually celebrate these halfies, but I thought I'd share a wishlist in case anyone is dying to buy a little gift to celebrate me being 1/2 way through my 24th year.
(Let's not talk about the 25th birthday just yet, not ready.)

Are we seeing a small trend?
Basically, I'll take anything with a monogram.
(And I really do need a cute business card holder...)
