{Why We Blog} Week: Why Neely Blogs

Hey Y'all I'm Neely! I blog over at A Complete Waste of Makeup.

It's a pretty neat blog if I do say so myself. What do I blog about you ask? Oh everything! Starbucks, wine, shopping, my love of Tory Burch and Kate Spade, reality TV, reading, my search for a teaching job, travel, my boyfriend C, my friends and makeup duh! Oh this is me....

I also co-host 2 awesome-sauce linkups! ITS OK Thursdays and Boob Tube Babble Fridays! You should prob come check it out :)

When Sweet Casey asked me to be a part of her "Why We Blog" week I was sooooo excited! Not only do I adore Casey and her blog but I felt so honored she wanted me to be a part of it!

Why do I blog?

1. This group of women I have found through blogging are as crazy, quirky, silly and random as I am and I love that kind of bonding between like minded awesome women :)

2. I love being able to share whats happening in my life. The good, the bad and the ugly. When Chad and I have had problems I blog about it.  When we have seen a counselor I blog about it. When I buy a new pair of shoes I blog about it. When my dad got diagnosed with cancer, I blog about it. When I fell out of a cab on my 27th birthday I blogged about :)

3. Blogging has brought me some truly amazing opportunities. I have a group of close friends I would have never had, if it hadn't been for blogging. I have gotten to connect with companies and people that I would have never heard about or known. I would probably have not spent so much money on etsy and I would never know about half the makeup products in my caboodle...yes caboodle.

But mostly...daily....every time I doubt why I blog I remember that I blog for me. This is my place, this is my voice, this is my little corner of the inter-webs. If people don't like it, that's OK....they can find a different blog to read. But I blog for me and me only.

I think when blogging, thats the best way to go about it.....but you know that's just my opinion :)
I hope you enjoyed my guest post and feel free to come find me on all of the social media platforms!!

{Why We Blog} Week: Why Ashley Blogs

Why hello friends! I'm Ashley and I blog over at Indecisively Ashley. Yep, this would be me!

Please, please, please head on over to my little blog (after reading this post of course) and check it out. I'd be ecstatic if you took a gander! Feel free to grab my button too.

This is my very first guest post and I am super duper excited to be a guest on one of my very favorite blogs ever. Casey is my cousin and a HUGE inspiration for starting my own blog (which is still an itty bitty newbie) and I was honored when she asked me to participate.
Happy first Blogaversary to you Casey!
Yay, how exciting is that?! Seems like it flew by so fast....one minute I'm reading your first post and the next it's already been a year and you have a slew of fabulous followers. Hats off to you my dear!

So, you all wanna know why I blog huh? I suppose that's the point and the reason I'm here guest posting today :) Unfortunately, being that I am pretty new to the Blogosphere, I haven't quite figured out why I love blogging exactly. I mean, obviously it's a ton of fun and there is so much you can do with a blog - participate in link-ups and giveaways, share tips on absolutely anything you feel you should (emphasis on the word should because trust me there are plenty of things I should never give tips or advice about), ramble about everyday life, and a whole schmorgesborg of fun things! But, I haven't had a chance to participate in all of these things yet so I am still working through what I enjoy the most.

What I can do is share with you what I think my blog will accomplish for me and what I hope to get out of it. Deal? Deal.

1. Create Ashley time. I'm a mom to two kids. And I'm a wife. And I work full-time for a busy marketing and communications company. My days start at 5am and doesn't end until the kiddos are sleeping, which is usually 8-9pm. This is my life every single day. Ashley time.....what the heck is that? Never heard of it. I rarely have the opportunity to do anything that is just for me. We don't exactly make a ton of money and we have tons to save for, like a home of our own. I don't treat myself to manis and pedis, I have to force myself to not feel guilty when I want to buy a new outfit or pair of shoes, and I rarely even get my hair done. I LOVE shopping, but can't bring myself to spend much most of the time. Of course some of this is just my stress, worry and anxiety that gets the best of me all the time. That is a long story in and of itself. I digress. Sooo, my hope is that this blog will be something that is just for me. Something that I enjoy doing during the small amounts of free time I do get. Even if it's just 1-2 posts a week. Whatever works. It makes me happy and I enjoy it, so that is reason enough for me.

2.  Make friends. I am going to be completely honest and say, I have no friends. No joke. At least no close girlfriends in close proximity that I can visit, drink wine with, have a girl's night with, or even other moms close to my age to have playdates with. Sometimes, this really sucks! We all need girlfriends we can talk to about anything and everything. Good news is I'm moving soon and I will be super close to my sister who is my best friend and that will obviously fill some of the emptiness. My hubby just got out of the Navy so it hasn't been an easy feat to keep close friends. You move often and it's always temporary. Now that we are out of the military I can focus on my friend-making abilities. Because I must say that I am an awesome friend. I hope that my blog will allow me to meet and mingle with all kids of fabulous ladies :) Even though so many of us live far apart and may never meet in person (although I really, really hope we do), there is something about the blogging world that creates special bonds. It's like a virtual coffee date of sorts :) We can connect with other women that make us laugh, get emotional with, and share similar experiences, and even though we may not meet or talk everyday, we will be friends. Great friends.

3. Get Creative. I like writing. Am I am good at it? Not really. But I can pretend, right? My creative juices flow when it comes to taking photos, but not so much with writing. But the beauty of having a blog is that I can do both. In the same place. I do have a Photography blog, which you can see here. But that has taken a backseat to more important things in my life right now and to be honest, I just don't have time to do it all! I have all these ideas that run through my head that I hope to actually put to use on my blog. I hope to get more crafty and take on some renovation/refurbishing projects along the way too!

4. Write about whatever, whenever. Isn't this the real point of blogging? To be able to write about whatever is on your mind whenever you feel like it? Sometimes I have something burning in me that I really feel like I need to share. Sometimes I don't really feel like sharing out loud. Instead, I blog. One day it might be pouring my heart about something exciting or emotional that happened that week, another day it might just be a quote that spoke to me. Whatever the case may be, I can blog about it. And I can do this on my own time. I make the rules. I can dig that :)

So these, my friends, are the 4 main reasons I blog and what I hope to get out of blogging. Can't wait to see what all of you blog about!

Have a fabulous, blog-lovin' day!

XOXO, Ashley

{Why We Blog} Week: Why Becky Blogs

To start off with, let me just say that Casey is the most patient blogger I know. When she emailed me a year ago {kidding, more like a month} about doing a guest post for her on Why I blog, I was more than pleased to reply yes. For two reasons.

One, I think the topic is a great one and I believe that readers enjoy to read why others choose to blog. Especially if the readers aren't blogging.

Two, she gave me a MONTHs {if not more} notice! That rarely happens.

And then it happened. I failed to meet the deadline. And again. And again. And again. Every time I would say I would have it in by, something would come up. Something, you ask? Oh you know... like forgetting I had to work that night, and getting that dreadful call from work... "um, where are ya?!" Ya. That kind of something.

But while my homemade vegetable soup cooks, and my baby girl naps... I have decided to finally sit down and whip this up real fast for her, for you, and for me.

So here we go. Why I blog.

1. To become Rich. Because I fully expect to be able to retire at age 24 {i'm 25} , move to a large home in Florida, and lay by the pool sipping on my BLL and see my beautiful face on the cover of PEOPLE.

2. To become Famous. If I'm not already.

3. To show off my beautiful life, and talk about how perfect I am. Because I am.

And that my friends is what I like to call myths of blogging. At least for us little bitty we blog to blog bloggers. But I can't tell you how many articles I have read that had those 3 things listed as reasons why people blog. I can't help but wonder who writes those reasons. Obviously, not a blogger.  Because blogging is so much more than just making money, becoming "famous," and talking about ourselves.

For me, blogging has made an amazing impact on my life. It has brought so many positive opportunities for me and my family. I've met some amazing women. In fact, I have a trip planned, a family trip, with another blogger and her family in a couple of weeks. I have been able to make money off of my blog and from it, I have been able to save my family a lot of money on things such as clothes, household items, christmas gifts, etc. It is a passion for me that words just cannot describe. I get a joy out of blogging that I never thought could be possible when I first started. And lastly, it is a permanent record of my life. My family's journey through life. The good. The bad. The happy, the laughs. And not to mention the pictures.

And because of this? I plan to make my blog into a book. Okay who am I kidding here... many books. And what I look forward to the most? Sharing these books and memories with my children and future grandchildren.

And although I may blog for many reasons, I do it for no one else but myself.

And that is all you need to start a blog, love a blog, and keep a blog going. Do it for you.

{Why We Blog} Week: Why Courtney Blogs

Hi! I’m Courtney from ‘Tales of Lace & Glitter’and I am just ecstatic to be blogging over here at today. I’m new to the Wide World of Blogging so I’m a ‘Long Time Reader, First Time Writer’ when it comes to guest posts. Big props to Casey for taking a chance on a new comer!

When I told my friends I wanted to start a blog I kinda got mixed reactions: Some gasps of excitement, some gasps of skepticism, a few eye rolls, and a few cheers of adoration. Me being me, I focused more on the positive responses and less on the negative. (Glass Half Full chicky over here!!) So on February 29th I started ‘Tales of Lace & Glitter’.
In honor of Casey’s blogaversary I thought I’d share with you a little bit about how my baby (aka my blog) came to be!

Why I started blogging:
Ever since I could remember I’ve had this running dialogue in my head. Not like the crazy “I hear voices” dialogue but just hearing myself describe situations or scenes that I find myself in.
Sometimes it’s making a smart-ass comment I know is probably inappropriate to say out loud, sometimes it’s simply the debate of which salad dressing  to get, or  it’s just questioning myself about if I should buy that shirt and which pants/shoes I would wear it with. You probably do it too and might not realize you’re doing.

Well, as I approached my 30th birthday the ‘debates’ in my head started to get more and more interesting. I found myself saying “Is this something a 30 year old should wear?” or “Can a 30 year old still drive a Jeep Wrangler?” or “Am I too old to have pink desk accessories?” It was all these questions that materialized into “Tales of Lace & Glitter” I write about this struggle/debate between wanting to be foot-loose fancy free and feeling like I need to be mature. I tend to ire on the side of foot-loose fancy free but every now & then (particularly on Friday nights after a long work week) I let my mature side pop out for a few hours.

I continue to blog for 2 reasons: 1. Cheap Therapy 2. Great Friends.
1. I can’t tell you how therapeutic it is to have a rough day or even a great day and sit down at the computer and just verbal dump my thoughts/fears/worries into a blog entry. It’s a great way to organize my thoughts and get my priorities straight. I write as if no one is reading and at the same time hope that everyone is reading! It’s my true unfiltered thoughts dumped almost daily into cyber space.

2. I also can’t tell you how great the friends are that I’ve made through my blog. I’ve met some amazing women who pick me up when I’m feeling down, who make me laugh, who inspire me, and who are just there day after day to be my new circle of friends!

Wanna know more about me? Check out ‘Tales of Lace & Glitter’
Wanna know my most random thoughts? I would love, love, love to have you follow me on Twitter!
Wanna see what recipe/craft/home decor/gardening/fashion I’m into? Follow me on Pinterest
Thanks for reading & I hope to hear from you soon!

{We We Blog} Week: Why Kate Blogs

Hi Stress Case friends! This is Cute Apartment here signing in to write about why it is that I write my little blog, which I have so cleverly named, Diary of a Blonde. Get it? It's because I'm blonde and my blog is like my diary.

When I was in college studying to be an interior designer, I used to have to do a ton of research on design themes, green energy and so on. While looking for these things I would come across dozens of inspiration photos that I loved, but couldn't use because they didn't associate with whatever project I was working on. My desktop became so cluttered with pictures that I liked, I ended up making an "inspiration folder" to save them in hopes of using them for a project. Soon enough my folder of pretty houses and interiors included quotes that I liked, recipes I wanted to try and craft ideas. I pretty much invented Pinterest without even knowing something like that existed!

While in school, I had classes 30 hours a week, worked part time at Ruby's Diner and was suffocating in homework. I had no time to blog! So I waited patiently for the blessed day to come where I graduated and would finally have countless hours to be on the internet for no reason at all. Of course because I'm a little obsessive and set in my ways, I had to come up with a whole canvas in order to "paint" my blog. I spent the next 3 days creating a background, working on a header and coming up with what in the hell it was I actually wanted to say.

On June 27, 2011 my first blog post went up and Diary of a Blonde was born! I wrote in my little about me section that my blog will be my guilty pleasure, giving me a creative outlet to post the things I find worth living for. And I think I have done a pretty good job of that. Although my blog is open for the world to read, I really only write it for me. It's a place that I like to hold beautiful pictures of rooms I would one day like to have. I use it to remember fond memories with friends and family, and also to write facts/ stories about me that people are dying to  may not know. I've also recently joined E-Harmony and have been writing about all of my dating adventures, both the good and the bad.

So to make a long story short, why is it that I blog? It's simple. I blog for me

Thanks for reading! Stop by and take a look into my little corner of the blogoshphere at Diary of a Blonde

{Why We Blog} Week: Why Kathy Blogs

Hi everyone. My name is Kathy and I blog at That's What She Said and That's What She ReadI'm a nerd and proud of it (DFTBA!). Harry Potter is my biggest obsession. I've always wanted to work with animals. I like reading, video games, and tv. I am married to a wonderful man, and we have the greatest dog in the whole world. Oh, and I am ridiculously obsessed with Penguins. I've even been to Antarctica to see them.

Photobucket

I started blogging on That's What She Said almost a year ago (It was called Life As I Know It way back then). I started the blog to just write about the things I loved and the great times that I had. It was sort like a diary for me and place to share my wonderful life with my Facebook friends and family. But then life stopped being wonderful. A series of horrible events left me with an anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder. I kept this off my blog for a long time because I just wanted my readers to see my happy side all the time.

Eventually I couldn't keep up the charade any more and I shared what had happened to me and that I was in partial hospitalization for it. I was really nervous about posting that post because I thought my readers would abandon me like my real life friends did, but they didn't. Instead they were amazing and encouraging. And that's when I started writing that blog for them. And while I still try to show my happy side most of time, I know that my blogger friends will always be there when I need them.

Some of my favorite blogs to read during this time were book blogs so after completing my task of reading 50 books in 2011, I decided to start one of my own with the goal of a hundred books a year. I write this blog because I love books and I love to share my opinions on them with everyone

Since I am no longer able to work, I have made my online activities into a full-time job for myself. Does it change the way I blog? Not much. I review more books that are given to me for review than the ones I get at the store and I spend more time highlighting my sponsors on That's What She Said. I've also had to take some time away from commenting in order to edit the book I wrote and to work on my Etsy shop. But my blogs are still the two most important things to me, and that will never change.

So I blog for a lot of reasons; for my family, for my blogger friends, for the little bit of money it makes, but most importantly, I blog for me.

{Why We Blog} Week: Why Kara Blogs

A big HELLO to all of you fabulous Stress Case readers! My name is Kara, and I blog over at All In A Row{e}.

I'm a twenty-something newlywed who loves to cook, shop, read, and drink a lot a respectable amount of wine every now and then. I also happen to be Casey's cousin!

Need proof? Here we are at my wedding:
Best Cousins and fellow Bud Light lovers!
I'm still fairly new to the blog world. I started blogging back in January and am loving it (you can read my very first post here).

I graduated from college in 2010, and until recently, I've never been a huge fan of writing. I'm pretty sure the hatred stems from all of the forced writing that I had to do in school, and I hate being forced to do anything.

Enter: Stress Case.

I became an avid follower of Casey's blog when she first started it and found myself really wanting to join in on the fun! I pondered the idea for months, because I didn't want to start a blog if I wasn't going to keep up with it, and I didn't know if I would enjoy it, since I hated writing so much in college.

After getting lots of great advice from Casey, I took the plunge, and am SO glad I did! Not only do I enjoy writing for myself (not for a grade), I have found some amazing blogs and have met so many great people through this great blogging community!

Aside from being inspired by my fabulous cousin, I started blogging because I wanted to have somewhere to really say what's on my mind. I'm still getting used to the idea of putting myself out there and saying how I really feel, but it's slowly getting easier.

I wanted to have a place where my true friends and family could keep up with my new life with my Hunter Husband. I also wanted a place where people don't feel like they have to be my "friend", they don't have to read what I write if they don't want to. And I'm A-OK with that!

So that, lovely readers, is why I blog.
I hope you'll stop by my blog and say hello, I'd love to hear from you!
And ALSO, Happy Blogaversary to the Great Stress Case! =D

{Why We Blog} Week: Why Christin Blogs

Hi, everyone! I’m Christin, and I blog over at Classy, Southern Wife. I write about everything from running to fashion, cooking and married life. I hope you’ll stop by sometime.

The “Why I Blog?” question is always a hard one to answer. Honestly, I started my blog as a Pinterest board of sorts (long before the days of Pinterest) to share wedding inspiration ideas with my mom. I only gave her the URL and didn’t think that anyone else would follow along. A few days later, I got my first comment, and from there it spiraled into what it is today.

I’ve always loved writing, which is a huge reason why I blog, but I also love “meeting” other bloggers, whether we actually get to meet in-person or just become friends through comments and e-mails. The blogging community is such a supportive place, women offering each other encouragement and advice.

As a late 20-something, it’s not always easy to meet other women who share similar interests, but blogging helps bring us together.
I’ve met wonderful women who have become dear friends. In fact, a blogger friend is flying to meet me at a race next month so we can run together. I’m so excited to meet her and share a couple hours of pounding the pavement together.

Blogging is much more than putting words on a webpage. It really is a community, whether it’s your community of mommy bloggers or fashion bloggers…we all have our passions, and blogging helps put us in touch with one another.

{Why We Blog} Week: Why I Blog

It's here!

{Why We Blog} Week and my 1-year Blog-a-versary!!
I am so excited to kick off this week of blogging fun - I (along with some amazing guest bloggers I've got lined up!) am brining you eleven straight days of blogging fabulousness!

For the next eight days, you'll be hearing (reading?) from all sorts of different bloggers from all over the country and all different paths of life telling you about the one thing they all have in common: blogging.

Blogging is funny in that it brings people together who most certainly would not find themselves there without it.  Those who lead completely different lives end up as blog besties, and that is such a beautiful thing.

So, to kick off {Why We Blog} Week, I guess I should start.
Why do I blog?
I started blogging initially because I was on Spring Break, and was bored, to be honest.
I thought I would do it for a little while, probably get sick of it, and move on to another hobby.

Well I'm a year deep, and don't see quitting in my near future!

Blogging has been such a wonderful outlet for me,
a place for me to discuss my failures and my triumphs,
my biggest fears and my embarassing moments,
to share photos from my wedding and tell stories about my husband,
a place to brag about the good things in my life,
and a place for people to commiserate with me on the not so good things.

I love blogging.
I also really really love the community of blogging.
I mean, that's sort of obvious I guess, considering I host an entire link-up geared towards supporting fellow bloggers.

Lots of Link Love

So ladies,

Why do you blog?
Want to share why you blog with me, and the rest of the blogging world?  Well get to writing, because here's your chance!

{Why We Blog} Week will open up as a link-up on Thursday, April 5th so we can hear why all of you blog!
You can tell us why you blog, what made you start blogging, your favorite things to blog about, even your favorite blogs to read!  Basically anything blogging-related will fly!

And tune in tomorrow for the first guest blogger!
